August 11, 1933 – June 16, 2018 Donna Lee Buzzard was born in Jerome, PA to Herman and Kathlyn Driggs. She passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on June 16th, 2018. Donna met her future husband, Robert Dow Buzzard, Jr, at Academy High School in Erie, PA in the eighth grade.

After graduating as a teacher from Eastern Nazarene College in 1955, she and Bob were married. As a US Navy wife, Donna spent the next 26 years in 24 different tours, quickly making every house a home for her family of six. They retired in 1984 to Gearhart, OR, their 24th home, and it certainly was one of her favorites.

Keeping the home fires burning while Bob was away was only a part of her life. She was an artist, a published author, and one of the best bread bakers around, always sharing her artistic loaves with many in the community. Fresh bread would arrive on doorsteps when new babies arrived, or sad news visited a neighbor.

Donna was always community minded. She got involved and made a big impact even though tours were typically only eighteen months. She established a joint annual art show in Scotland with local residents and navy wives, as well as painting wall murals at her daughter’s elementary school in Virginia.

Once moving to Oregon she volunteered for the Hospice program in Clatsop County, and became active in the Clatsop Community College ENCORE program. In her later years she found great joy in playing the ukulele with the North Coast Strummers, and filling her leisure time quilting. Like her bread, the whimsical quilts found their way to many delighted recipients.

Undoubtedly, some of her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren, Colton and Maggie. Donna is survived by her four children: Tara Lee Sinclair of Warrenton, OR, Robin Buzzard Cavendish (Fred) of Banks, OR, Robert Dow Buzzard, III, (Marie) of Chesapeake, VA, and Dawn Heather Buzzard of Gearhart, OR; two grandchildren, Colton Robert Cavendish of Banks, OR, and Margaret Flora Blaser of Gearhart, OR; and her brother Gary Driggs (Jan) of Spartansburg, PA. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in 1997, son-in-law, Stuart Sinclair in 2012, and her brother, Larry Driggs in 2017.

She lived life gracefully, helped others cheerfully, and was truly loved by all.
