Doris Juanita Smith-Brown January 12, 1927 – January 30, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Doris Juanita Smith Brown, age 92, of Malvern, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019. She was born January 12, 1927 in Malvern to the late Silas E. and Lottie (Burris) Smith. She was ordained with the Assemblies of God and served as a missionary in Tok, Alaska, where she founded several churches.

She was a teacher, a minister, and an alumni of SAGU and Evangel University. She enjoyed reading, prison ministry, and community outreach. Doris was a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her spouse Richard Brown of Malvern, adopted daughter Dr. Gwendolyn Avington of Lynnwood, WA, special friend Kimberly VanMeter, brother Silas F. Smith (Nina) of Malvern, nephews Gary, Cecil and Richard Smith, and numerous friends. Visitation will be Saturday, February 2, 2019, 1:00-2:00 pm at Regency Funeral Home Chapel with service following at 2:00 pm with Kimberly and Gwen officiating.

Burial at Rockport Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Smith and David Avington. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prison Ministry or Community Outreach of your choice.
