Doris Mae Verbeten Doris Mae “Goldie” (Goldapske) Verbeten, age 86, of Little Chute, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, surrounded by family members. She was born on March 9, 1932, in Fond du Lac, WI, daughter of the late John and Lucille (Bingem) Goldapske. Doris graduated from Holy Cross Grade School and Kaukauna High School in 1951.

After school, she worked at Zwickers Knitting Mill and Geenen’s Dept. Store where she clerked and modeled for the store. In 1952, she met her husband to be, Bob “Snuffy” Verbeten who was in the Marine Corps.

They were married at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna in 1954. Moving to Little Chute, they became members of St. John Church. She spent many happy years at their summer home on Grindle Lake with family and friends.

Bob and Doris had 52 wonderful, happy years together until his passing in 2006. Doris is survived by her children: John R. (Theresa) Verbeten, Joseph R. Verbeten and Vicky L. Verbeten (special friend, Phil); eight grandchildren: Jason (Jen), Jacob (Betsy) and Jeremy Verbeten; Christopher (special friend, Megan) Verbeten, Connor Verbeten and Kayla (Jeff) Hooper; Kristie (Troy) Chaltry and Brooke (fiancé, Al) DeGoey; four beautiful great granddaughters: Peyton, Paisley, Addison and Alexis; one great grandson, Braxton; a brother, Jim Goldapske; sister, Sally (Dennis) Wickesberg; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lorraine Van Vreede, Evie Verbeten, Marion (Dede) Helein, Carol (Ron) DeBruin and Jack DeGoey, along with many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents, John and Lucille Goldapske; a dear sister, MaryAnn Goldapske; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ralph Verbeten, Marlon Verbeten, Earl (Betty) Verbeten, Blanche (Jerry) Pynenberg, Florence DeGoey, Lois (Donald) Gonnering, Harvey Van Vreede, Clyde Helein and Jean Goldapske; nieces and nephews: Gary and Katie Wickesberg, Jimmy Goldapske and Joe Pynenberg.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
