OBITUARY Doris P Sifford October 14, 1933 – July 21, 2018 Doris Purser Sifford, 84, passed away July 21, 2018. She was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Lon and Odessa Purser. She was the loving and devoted wife of 56 years to John Wiley Sifford who predeceased her in 2014.

She was also predeceased by sisters Marzelle Cooper, Jean McMackin , brother Dennis Purser, nephews Lanny Sigmon and Gary Purser as well as all of Johnny’s sisters and brother. Doris was a member of the first graduating class of East Mecklenburg High School in 1951 and was employed by Southern Bell after. She then spent her life caring for Johnny and her daughters.

She was involved with her church, Hickory Grove United Methodist and enjoyed working with flowers and crafts and could always add a special touch or sparkle. Doris had a deep love for her family and will be missed by her daughters Ansle S. Hudson (Al) and Leia S. Dean (Benny). She was a proud Gigi to Hailey, Sydney and Ally Hudson.

She is also survived by her beloved brother Rodney L. Purser and his wife Carol, nieces Tamara Griffin (Bill), Mona Huntley, Tammy Caskey (Mike), Judy Schaefer (John) and nephews Wayne Purser (Polly), Sydna Verross, Lee Purser (Patti), Roddy Purser (Allison), Zach Purser (Jen), Josh Purser (Amy) as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for Mom’s caregivers who loved and treated her as family and always went over and above to provide excellence in care ~ Dontea White, Samirah White and Vatina Fitch. We would also like to thank Dr. Erika Bono for her constant kind and loving care over many years.

Her service of Hope and Celebration will be held at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. A period of visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
