OBITUARY Frances N. Aiken February 21, 1927 – July 21, 2018 Mrs. Aiken, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Born February 21, 1927 in Orange County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie Nichols. Following graduation from high school, Frances attended Duke University and then worked for Belk Store Services for 44 years retiring in 1991.

She was a long-time active member of First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Westgate Chapter. Remembered especially for her loving and giving spirit, Mrs. Aiken was much admired by all who knew her including her church family, her coworkers and her adoring children and grandchildren. She was a truly classy Southern lady whose character was “white as snow”.

She is survived by her children, Linda Parker, Rick Aiken, and Jerry Aiken (Robin); her grandchildren, Blair Ogburn (Vic), Jordan Parker, Zach Aiken (Bradleigh) and Maxx Aiken; and her great grandchildren, Maddox Aiken, Nash Aiken and Olivia Ogburn; as well as her sister, Grace Briggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Aiken, in 1977. A service to celebrate Mrs. Aiken’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24th at First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Tryon Street.

Her family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. (Parking is available in the parking deck on 9th Street between Tryon and Church Streets. Take the elevator to the sanctuary.
