Bussell, age 87, of Alma passed away on January 13, 2019 at S.E. Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama after an extended illness. She was born in Alma, Georgia on February 28, 1931 to the late Clinton Tanner and Esther Meeks Tanner. She lived in Plant City, Florida for many years before moving back to Alma in her later years.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Murphy Bussell, three brothers, Carl Tanner, T. J. Rigdon and Troy Lavern Tanner and two sisters, Lydia Jeanette Tanner and Mary “Pinky” Reese. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida, a member of Eastern Star Past Worthy Matron at Olin S. Wright Lodge. Survivors include four children, Richard Bussell (Nancy) of Albuquerque, NM.

, Mitchell Bussell (Sheila) of Kinston, AL. , Mary Broussard (Dan) of Lakeland, FL. and Yvonne Newbern (Dennis) of Alma, GA.

, one brother, Jerrell Tanner of Americus, GA. , a sister, Lois Bedgood of Alma, GA. , 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19that 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Rigdon officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 AM until funeral time. Active pallbearers will be; Eddie Bedgood, Bobby McNeil, David Broussard, Shane Peacock, Brent Feagle and Ryan Altman. Honorary pallbearers will be; Jack Tanner, Jerry Mims, Jerome Rigdon, Pete and Perry Johnson.

Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
