Obituary for Dorothy A. Bourdo Dorothy A. Bourdo Grovetown, Georgia. Dorothy Bourdo, faithful wife, cherished mother and adoring grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Westside Baptist Church.

The Dr. Robert Lehn officiating. Private family interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Thomas Poteet & Sons Funeral Directors.

Dorothy was born June 14, 1931, in Warren, Illinois, to Reverend Melvin and Elvira Johnson. She earned an AA Degree from North Park University in Chicago, IL and received an AB Degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 1955, Dorothy married the love of her life, Eugene R. Bourdo, and together they had 4 children.

Dorothy was an educator at heart and taught at Augusta Christian School until she retired. She was an accomplished pianist using her talents at church, in volunteer work (nursing home and Rescue Mission ministries), and filling her home with the cheerful sounds of music. She was a master baker, always sharing her indulgent treats with family, friends and neighbors.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her wisdom, stewardship and love for the Lord was evident in her life and influential in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – a Psalm 31 woman, “her children arise up and call her blessed”. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Elvira Johnson; and her husband: Eugene Bourdo. She is survived by her brother, Melvin Johnson of State College, PA and sister, Marjorie Francis of Portage, MI. Sons: Timothy Bourdo and wife, Jan of Evans, GA; Todd Bourdo and wife, Joni of Appling, GA; Daughters: Judith Kersten and husband, Jonathan of Atlanta, GA; Lisa Taylor and husband, Rodney of Hampton, GA Grandchildren: Phillip Bourdo and wife, Kristen, Jordan Bourdo, Jarrad Bourdo, Allie Bourdo, Tori Cape and husband, Justin, Tyler Bourdo and wife, Courtney, Jessica Kessler and husband, Bradley, Jenna VanZelfden and husband, Chris, Lauren Taylor and Ryan Taylor, Great-grandchildren: Caleb, Vivian and Theodore Kessler, Camden VanZelfden, and Hudson Bourdo.
