Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy A. Shanle, 83, of Albion, NE, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz and Deacon Paul Weeder officiating.

Immediately following the Mass, a luncheon will be served in the church basement. Interment will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Lindsay, NE. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. Wake Service.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family for later designations to the following: St. Michael’s Catholic School and Church, Albion Fire and Rescue, St. Judes, and Children’s Hospital-Omaha. Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy Ann Shanle, daughter of Ralph and Eleanor (Foltz) Eisenmenger was born on July 3, 1935 at Humphrey, NE.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Dorothy attended school and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis High School in 1953. On August 2, 1955 Dorothy was united in marriage to Alvin John Shanle at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, NE.

They lived and farmed 8 miles south of Lindsay and in 1989 they moved to Albion. Dorothy worked for John Byrnes Insurance, in the Platte County Assessor office as a secretary, and was the bookkeeper for the Shanle Bros. for several years.

Dorothy was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion where she was a sacristan. She was also a past secretary for Parish council in Lindsay, NE. She enjoyed needlework and was a wonderful cook and had a specialty for her peach pie, cherry rolls, and cinnamon rolls.

She would enter her sewing and baking at the Boone County Fair. Dorothy also loved tending to her plants and flowers, but her biggest joy was for her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her nine children: Dan (Betty) of Genoa, NE; Joan (Harry)Wemhoff of Humphrey, NE; Sue (Larry) Mausbach of Omaha, NE; Mary Gregoryk of Camarillo, CA; Tim (Amy) of Albion, NE; Terry (Suzette) of Genoa, NE; Janice (Dan) Andersen of Eau Claire, WI; Larry of Genoa, NE; and Cheryl Staashelm of Omaha, NE; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six sisters: Lee Hastreiter of Lincoln, NE; Alice Labenz of Humphrey, NE; Phyllis Albright of Omaha, NE; Elaine (Virgil) Chochon of Columbus, NE; Mary Lou Nienaber of Lindsay, NE; Helen (Junior) Weidner of Humphrey, NE; four brothers: Paul (Jodie) Eisenmenger of Humphrey, NE; David (Karen) Eisenmenger of Columbus, NE; Erv (Elaine) Eisenmenger of West Point, NE; Larry (Mary Beth) Eisenmenger of McCook, NE; sister-in-law Elaine Eisenmenger of Humphrey, NE; brother-in-law Erv Zach of Genoa, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, brother Lenny Eisenmenger, sister Margie Zach; brothers-in-law: Gene Hastreiter, Vic Labenz, Ed Albright, and Harry Nienaber.
