Rachel’s Obituary Rachel Bernice Harvey, 98, of St. Edward, NE, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE. Rachel’s wishes were to be cremated and there will not be any services. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids, NE is in charge of arrangements. Rachel was born on July 18, 1920, to Robert and Ella (Doughty) Eagleton near Erie, CO, the eldest of six children. She grew up in Boulder, CO and in 1938, married Charles Harvey of Lafayette, CO.

They lived in Lafayette, Leadville, and Boulder before moving to Everett, WA, when Charles was stationed at Payne Field. They moved back to Lafayette in 1948, and later lived in Estes Park three separate times, Grand Lake, Longmont, Boulder, and Hygiene before moving to Tucson, AZ. Rachel then moved to Canon City, CO, Oakdale, CA, and back to Canon City before moving to Cedar Rapids, NE.

She moved into Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward in 2011. Five children were born to Charles and Rachel: Donald Wayne Harvey (Frances), Phyllis Lorraine Waymire, Karen Eileen (Emmett Taylor), Evelyne Gay (James Wassili), and Douglas Allen Harvey. Rachel worked as a housekeeper at various hotels, motels, cottage camps, and hospitals during her life.

She loved raising goats and rabbits, was a good shot with a deer rifle, and liked hiking in the forests. She also loved music and her churches. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis and Evelyne, son Douglas, sister Shirley Clark, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and her great friend and roommate, Frances Wozny.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Robert, Vernon, and Gerald, sister Inez, son Donald, daughter Karen, sons-in-law Joe Fausone and James Waymire, and granddaughter Sheila Kay Waymire.
