OBITUARY Mrs. Dorothy Blankenship Gregg May 20, 1924 – September 11, 2018 Dorothy Blankenship Gregg, age 94, passed away on September 11, 2018. Dorothy was born to Charles and Frances Blankenship on May 20, 1924 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Visitation will be at the Floral Hills Chapel in Raytown, Missouri on Monday, September 17th, at 9am with the service and burial immediately following.

As a child, Dorothy and her parents lived in the Missouri towns of Meada and Sedalia, before moving to the northeast neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. After she graduated from Manual High School (1942) she attended and graduated from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri (1942-1944) where she was named Miss Southwest Baptist. She worked at Montgomery Wards, the Federal Reserve Bank and Russell Stover Candies before she married Lynn Gregg at Bethany Baptist Church in Kansas City.

Dorothy met the challenge of raising four children with Lynn who was in the Navy where they traveled and lived in many parts of the country. After Lynn’s Navy retirement she returned to work at Russell Stover and then worked and retired from the Kansas City, Missouri School District. Dorothy always enjoyed history and traveling abroad.

Dorothy was a devoted servant of God and was an active member of Baptist Churches. She would do extensive research from various books, and of course the Bible, in preparation for teaching Sunday School. Dorothy also did professional seamstress work and was known for her creative designs.

After Lynn passed away in 2006 she moved to the Armour Oaks retirement center in Kansas City. The family thanks Joanne Thomas and her crew for home health care, and the staff at the Armour Oaks and Crossroads Hospice for their gentle care. Dorothy is survived by her four children: Chuck and his wife, Nhung, Jim and his wife Carol, Dan and his wife Amy and Joan Stout and her husband, Chris.
