Dorothy’s Obituary Mrs. Dowd, the daughter of the late Byrd F. and Hettie Sparkman Boyers, was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Butler County. She was of the Full Gospel faith and had retired in 1984 from Florsheim Shoe Company.

She enjoyed making ceramics and going with church groups to nursing homes to sing. She married Theodore Dowd on Dec. 18, 1943 in New Jersey.

He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1998. Survivors include three children: Larry (Diane)Dowd and Sandi Kay Cowan of Poplar Bluff and Debra Ann (Pete) Conover of Broseley; two sisters: Betty Webb of Illinois and Mildred Worley of Poplar Bluff; a brother Meredith Boyers of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dowd was also preceded in death by a son Teddy Dowd; two sisters, Virginia Crites and Ruthie Boyers and a brother Ben Boyers. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, April 1st at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Vernon Kneir will officiate.

Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
