Lorene’s Obituary Lorene Scott, 98, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. , entered the Gates of Heaven Friday, March 8, 2019 at Westwood Hills Health and Rehab Center in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Scott, the daughter of the late James Wesley and Mary Dona Hellums Tibbs, was born Sept.

13, 1920 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of The First Church of God, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Scott enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, flowers, quilting and sewing.

Mrs. Scott married the love of her life Thomas Edward Scott on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1938 in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Dec.

17, 2007. Survivors include her son Thomas Eugene Scott of Arnold and Joyce L. Goodrum (Eli) of Poplar Bluff; a daughter-in-law Marilyn Scott of Ferris, Texas; her brother John E. Tibbs (Mary Ellen) of Poplar Bluff; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Scott was also preceded in death by her son, James Edward Scott, brothers, Evert Tibbs, Leo Tibbs, Richard Tibbs, and Ralph Tibbs, her sister Grace Tibbs, daughter-in-law Barbara Scott, grandsons, Jason Scott and Steve Scott and a great-granddaughter Ariel Goodrum.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 11 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with Pastor Ben Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
