Dorothy Elizabeth Gibbons, 99, of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Westwood Hills Nursing Ctr. in Wilkesboro. Mrs. Gibbons was born in Binghamton, New York on January 22, 1920 and was the daughter of Mabel Elliott and Howard B. Webb.

She was married Oct. 13, 1937 to Donald Meade Gibbons. Mrs. Gibbons was employed for 21 years as Deputy Town Clerk in the town of Fenton, NY.

While serving many of the citizens needs there, she also found time to establish a flower garden in front of the town hall. Her flower garden is maintained by the local boy scouts to this day. She was a loving person, encouraged family, friends, and was a beloved mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Mrs. Gibbons was a member of Port Crane Missionary Alliance Church in New York and was also a children’s Sunday School teacher there for many years. She relocated to Wilkesboro, NC in 1997 and became a member of Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro. Dorothy is survived by two sons, M. Carl Gibbons and Mark D. Gibbons; seven grandchildren, David Gibbons, Irene Clouser, Dale Gibbons, Deirdre Nielsen, Kyle Gibbons, Matthew Gibbons and Rachel Webb; and 26 great-grandchildren.
