Dorothy (Case – Akers – Darnell) Hultz, 95, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018. She was born to Burr A. and Ethel Mae Case on February 26, 1923 in Norborne, MO. Dorothy graduated from Stet High School in Stet, MO and attended Missouri Teacher’s College in Warrensburg, MO.

She began teaching in a one room school house in Carroll County and after two years moved to Kansas City. There she began secretarial and bookkeeping work at General Foods, then several other companies for 8 years. In 1952 she began working for D. D. Darnell & Co. which became DARCO Sales, eventually becoming co-owner over her 45 year career with them.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Burr and Ethel Mae Case, her sisters Ethel Tweedie and Glenn O’Day, brother Burr Case Jr., husbands Don Darnell and Jewell Hultz and stepson Jim Duesenberg. She is survived by her sister Juanita Erickson, stepchildren Peggy Murphy, Pam Sear, Mary Graner, Tamara Rimer, and Stephen Hultz, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorothy loved to sing and travel and was a delightful and accomplished business woman with a great sense of humor.

She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Visitation will be Saturday, July 28, 1 PM followed by 2 PM memorial service at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. Overland Park, KS, 66210.

Private family entombment. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
