Dorothy Inez Wright Elwell died peacefully Wednesday April 28,2018 at her home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She is survived by her husband James O. Elwell, 90 years old, and her daughters, Pam Elwell Battistella and Jayne Elwell Hollis, both of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and her Granddaughter, Alicia Blair Hollis of Tampa, Florida. A native of Manchester, Georgia, she graduated Valedictorian from Manchester High School.

She was a proud Mother as well as part owner and operator of J&G Shoes for many years in Manchester. Moving to Atlanta they continued their shoe store operations in both Riverdale and Fayetteville, Georgia where, upon retiring, settled in Fayetteville, moving later to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida to be close to both their daughters. Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 with viewing at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm at Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home – 3600 3rd Street South – Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250.

She will be interned at the National Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. In lieu of flowers please send donations in memory of Dorothy Elwell at Bright Focus Foundation, a Research organization for Alzheimer’s.
