Dorothy Mae Gregg, 85, of Crookston, MN, passed away peacefully at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston on Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2018. Dorothy was born in Crookston on March 5, 1933, one of 12 children of the union of Ole and Stella (Alstadt) Bjorgo. She grew up in Crookston, was baptized and confirmed at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949.

After graduation, Dorothy moved to Minneapolis where she was united in marriage to Gordon Gregg on March 16, 1954. In 1964 she and Gordon moved to Fargo, ND and purchased May’s Shoe Store. Dorothy was later employed at Mandel’s Furs in downtown Fargo before spending several years working as a real estate agent.

Her last venture before retirement found Dorothy traveling throughout the area, and other states as well, selling pull tabs. It was an interesting way to meet many new friends. Sadly, Gordon passed away on October 13,2000, and his loss left a huge hole in her heart.

Dorothy continued to make her home in Fargo until moving back to Crookston in 2015. Dorothy loved being around people, and even though she and Gordon didn’t have children of their own, through her extended family and friends she had lots of “kids and grand-kids”. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo where she would often volunteer her time doing whatever was needed.

She was also a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters. Dorothy enjoyed dining out with friends, golfing, and bowling in the Bowl Buster league every Tuesday. She was also an avid Twins and Vikings fan.

Dorothy was famously known for her great big hugs, which her family will miss the most. In addition to Gordon, her beloved husband of 46 years, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Stella Bjorgo; 5 sisters: Maria, Eva, Helen, Barbara and Ida; 6 brothers: Henry, Lloyd, Clifford, Vernon, William and Roy; and a nephew, James Ranum. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Larry Ranum and his wife, JoAnn, of Crookston MN; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

May God richly bless the memory of Dorothy Mae Gregg. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Gregg will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN at 10:30 am, Monday, July 16, 2018, with The Rev. Augie Gothman, presiding.

Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fargo, ND. www.
