Dorothy Margaret Tornberg, age 102, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Vines Senior Homes in Elgin. Dorothy was born April 13, 1916 in Batavia, Illinois, the daughter of Gunner and Maria Granquist. On May 10, 1942 Dorothy married Gust Tornberg, and together they raised their three children, Marie, Kenneth, and Richard in Gust’s family home in Geneva.

Dorothy enjoyed playing canasta with the other ladies of First Street. She also enjoyed the outdoors, walking, and was a wonderful cook. However, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children Kenneth (Shirley) of Marysville, Ohio and Richard (Kathy) of Elgin; son-in-law David Boardman of Appleton, Wisconsin; grandchildren Beth Boardman, Brian (Amy) Boardman, Sarah (William) Channell, Adam (Kara) Tornberg, Jeff (Meagan) Tornberg, and Carl (Heidi) Tornberg; nine great-grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband Gust, her daughter Marie Boardman, and her brother Verner Granquist.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am at Geneva Lutheran Church, 301 S. 3rd Street, Geneva, Illinois 60134 with Pastor Trudy Stoffel officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Geneva Lutheran Church in Dorothy’s name.
