OBITUARY Dorothy Sue Gilbert December 31, 1929 – November 16, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Sue Gilbert announces her passing on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the age of 88. Dorothy was born in West Monroe Louisiana on December 31, 1929 to Francis Elizabeth Haire and Lester George Toombs. She was a bright child and dreamed of being a nurse.

Dorothy met her future husband William (Bill) Daniel Gilbert during the years of World War II. She studied booking and worked in that field during the first years of marriage. Dorothy loved her family and kept them as her first priority throughout the years.

She managed the household through many moves during Bill’s military career. Later in life Dorothy had a career in the banking industry that she really enjoyed. Dorothy and Bill had three children: Rebecca Ann, William Daniel, and David Toombs.

Dorothy is proceeded in death by her husband Bill and son David. A funeral service in memory of Dorothy will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA starting at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA.

There will be a viewing and remembrance Friday, November 30 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in her name to your favorite children or animal charities.
