Dorothy V. McCullough December 15, 1934 – December 20, 2018 Dorothy V. McCullough, 84, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on December 20, 2018 at Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, AZ. At her request, no services will be held. Dorothy was born in Illinois, to parents Fred and Shirley Hutchinson.

She was the younger sister to four brothers, Floyd, Howard, Donald and John, all World War II veterans. As the only girl in the family, she learned to stand up for herself at an early age. Her family and friends lovingly used the word stubborn in response to her determination to do things her way.

Dorothy grew up in a farming family during the Great Depression and learned the value of hard work. She held many jobs in her lifetime including Department of the Navy as a civil servant; telephone operator; business owner; manager of a national chain restaurant. In addition to being with her family, she enjoyed spending time with her many friends around the country.

These especially include, but are not limited to: Joyce A., Ms. Liz, Sharon, Gwen and Diane. She enjoyed Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, the Kentucky Derby and fur babies Chip, Copper and Chia. Born: December 15, 1934 Place of Birth: Somonauk, IL Death: December 20, 2018 Place of Death: Tempe, AZ She also enjoyed making up special mystery gift boxes to present to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

These boxes often contained fun, unexpected and indescribable items. Some boxes live in infamy and will be the subject of hilarious discussion in the family for years to come. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and beloved husband, Henry McCullough, also a World War II veteran.

Dorothy is survived by her son Steve (Ellen) Stambaugh; her daughter Joyce Linhart; her grandchildren Joe (Shannon) Linhart, Leigh Anne (Brad) Hall; her great-children Ashley Hall, and Brooke, Dillon and Blake Linhart. We will always miss her. We loved her very much.
