Lexington – Dorothy Zink Turner, 98, was surrounded by her loving family and went to be with her Savior in the comfort of her home on Friday, May 17, 2019. She was born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut. At age 21, Dorothy proudly served in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps as a staff sergeant during WWII and was honorably discharged after marrying Elijah Conward (E.C.) Turner, Jr. on December 11, 1944.

They were married and devoted to one another for 60 years until the passing of Rev. E.C. in 2004. Together they raised their 3 daughters.

In her early years, she was employed as a secretary and later as a dental assistant. After marriage, she dedicated her life to the Word, was baptized and raised her family at her beloved Shandon Baptist Church. She then served as a pastor’s wife for many years at the New Testament Church and Family of God ministries.

She was a devoted member of the Harvest for many years and most recently had joined Landmark Church. She loved all of her church families. There was nothing Dorothy loved more than her time with her family, especially her daughters and seeing her grandchildren; and they cherished her.

She always made life fun and brought laughter to every occasion. Her genuine smile and laughter were infectious. She had amazing life stories that she shared and she always wanted to hear your story, to show and give praise.

Dorothy was the loving mother of her three daughters Kathryn Jo Cantwell, Sandra Eloise Turner, and Dorothy Louise Ingram (husband Larry); the precious grandmother “Granny” to her 4 grandchildren Shannon Cantwell, Kelly Cantwell, Mackenzie Calhoun (husband Kevin) and Kevin Ingram (wife Sonya); and the beloved “Granny” to Jackson, Eli, Myla and Landon. “Her children arise up, and call her blessed. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all”.

A graveside gathering will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Woodridge Cemetery on Corley Mill Road in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors, support. woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate.
