Obituary for Doug Mitchell Frankfort – Clarence Douglas “Doug” Mitchell, age 66, passed away at home Thursday, September 20, 2018. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Gene Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018. Doug was born in Georgetown on October 3, 1951, to the late John A. and Mary Myrtle Massie Mitchell.
He retired from Kentucky State Government and owned and operated Mitchell Mobile Home Service for several years. He attended the New Life Worship Center. He enjoyed going to the Smoky Mountains, spending time on the farm, and deer hunting.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, George Mitchell and Margaret Clark. He is survived by his sons, Michael Mitchell, Sr. (Kim), and John Thomas Mitchell (April); sister, Dot Pacey; grandchildren, Austin Burchett, Michael Mitchell, Jr., Chelsea Mitchell, Megan Robertson, John T. “Bub” Mitchell, Jr., Kalissa Purvis, and Gracie Lynn Mitchell; and by one great-granddaughter, Avery Brewer.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Mitchell, Sr., Michael Mitchell, Jr., John Thomas Mitchell, Allen Sams, Billy Sams, and Frank Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Burchett and John T. “Bub” Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
