Larsen – Douglas Allen Tate took his last flight from this world on Sunday, December 8, 2018 at home in Larsen, WI. Douglas was born on August 23, 1951 to Donald and Betty (Manier) Tate. He attended Stevensville and Hortonville Grade School, graduated from Hortonville High School and Fox Valley Technical College.

Douglas served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he married Deborah Lois (Klockzien) on June 21, 1975. Douglas began his civilian life working at Rich’s Bakery in Appleton.

Shortly after his marriage, he took over the family farm from his father-in-law, the late Max Zander. Though farming was his life long career and passion, he also drove trucks for Atlas Cold Storage and Jeff Waldvogel Trucking. For 40 years, Douglas also volunteered as fireman for Winchester Fire Department.

Survivors include his loving wife, Deborah; brothers, Timothy and Jonathan; sister, Linda (Mocine); sons, Adam, Benjamin, and Isaiah; daughters, Sawan and Kira; grandchildren, Spencer, Mitchell, Logan, Kayla, and Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Noah. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Donald; nephew, Patrick Tate; and his beloved uncle Kenneth Miller. He enjoyed fishing, flying his Cessna plane, traveling the world and working on old tractors or anything else that needed to be fixed.

Spending time outdoors, whether it be working on the farm or fields was one of his favorite things to do. Douglas thrived when in the company of friends, family and Veterans. Heartfelt thanks to friends and family who have been supportive through the years and the incredible staff at Veterans Affairs, Veteran’s Services, and Froedtert Hospital -You are truly angels on Earth.

A visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Valley Funeral Home in Appleton, WI. Following the service, the family will host a celebration of life at 5:00 p.m. for friends and family at Winchester Town Hall.
