Dr. Clarence King Whiteside, Jr. age 84 and a resident of Flower Mound, TX. Born on November 3, 1934 in Lubbock, TX and passed away on February 3, 2019 in Flower Mound, TX. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Whiteside and his children, Richard Hughes and his wife Stephanie, Kevin Whiteside and his wife Kateri, Karen Diane Whiteside, Keith Whiteside and his wife Kathie and Tamara Hoiby and her husband Patrick.

He is also survived by Fourteen Grandchildren and two Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death his parents, Clarence King Whiteside, Sr., and Lizzie Belle Clements Whiteside, and by two younger brothers, William Henry Whiteside and Robert Paul Whiteside Attended Lubbock High School, Texas Tech University and U.T. Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and graduated in the class of 1959. In June 1960 he entered the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps with the rank of captain.

During the following years he served as a flight surgeon at medical facilities at Dow AFB, Maine; RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, U.K.; and RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, U.K., the latter as dispensary commander. In August 1965 he returned to the United States for a pediatrics residency at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After completing his residency in 1968, he was assigned to the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General at Andrews AFB in Washington, D.C., which gave him an opportunity to serve as medical support personnel during some of the Apollo flights.

Subsequent assignments were as hospital commander at Reese AFB, Lubbock, Texas; a member of the USAF Inspector General’s team at Norton AFB, San Bernardino, California; and hospital commander at Yokota AFB, Japan. At this point in his career he had attained the rank of colonel and, upon rotating back to the U.S., was assigned to Fairchild AFB in Medical Lake, Washington, as hospital commander. Col.

Whiteside retired from military service in 1983. After retirement from his service he started a private practice in Lubbock, TX for over 20 years. Burial will take place at Washington State National Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA with full military honors at a later date.
