OBITUARY Dr. Jose Pulvinar Ante M.D. April 20, 1928 – November 29, 2018 Dr. Jose Pulvinar Ante, M.D. April 20, 1928 – November 29, 2018 Dr. Jose Ante died peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 9:40 am at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Ante was 90 years old when he entered his eternal rest, joining his parents, Dr. & Mrs. Esteban Ante of Legazpi City, Albay, Philippines, sisters Teresita Ante-Magno, Dr. Sonya Ante-Abad and Cesar Ante. He was born on April 20, 1928 in Legazpi City, Albay, Philippines.

After receiving his medical degree at Manila Central University, he trained as a resident physician at the Jersey City Medical Center, New Jersey. After his training, he returned to his native land and practiced at his family’s hospital, Sta. Teresita Hospital, located in Legazpi City, Albay.

In 1968, he and his wife, Dr. Gloria Licup-Ante, emigrated to the United States and after serving as physicians in Kansas, Ohio, Virginia, and Illinois, they settled in Louisville, Kentucky, where they established their roots and raised their five children who eventually blessed them with nine grandchildren. He worked as a psychiatrist for 22 years in Central State Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Jose Ante is survived by his wife, Dr. Gloria Licup-Ante and children, USAF Colonel Retired Mary Ann Pilarica Ante-Amburgey married to USAF Colonel Retired Keith Amburgey, USAF Major Retired Alexander Joseph Stephen Ante married to Maria Remedios Gonzalez-Ante, USAF Lieutenant Colonel Retired Mary Jane Ante, USAF Major Retired Mary Lynn Victoria Ante-Hecht married to Thomas Hecht, and Dr. William Anthony Ante married to Rachel Storey-Ante.

Also saddened by his loss are his nine grandchildren, USAF Major Lauren Alexis Johnican, Dr. Stephanie Victoria Johnican, PharmD, Patrick Christopher Joseph Ante, Sophia Elizabeth Ante, Joseph Kent Hecht, Maximilian Alexander Ante, Michael Keith Massey III, Katrina Marie Hecht, and April Joy Ante. He is survived by his sisters, Erlinda Ante-Sabido, Violeta Ante-Los Banos, Pilar Ante-Hilario, Magdalena Ante-Trias, brother, Dr. Rodolfo Ante and sister-in law Dr. Rosalinda Suaco-Ante. His viewing is to be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213 on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for novenas and prayers for the repose of the soul of Dr. Jose P. Ante.
