Duane Towell, 91 of Paragould, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2018. He was born December 25, 1926, to M. J. and Lela Towell. Duane was born and raised in Stanford, AR.

He was a faithful member of the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ where he served as a teacher, zone leader, deacon, elder and a member of the Children’s Home of Paragould board. He and his wife, Faye, were owners of the Red Goose Shoe Store in downtown Paragould for 23 years. Duane was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and talented carpenter.

He and Faye were dedicated to their church and community. Their love for God shone through the lives of their children and the numerous lives they touched at 7th and Mueller and the Children’s Homes. Above all, Duane was a loving, faithful servant of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jan Smith; grandson, Shawn Smith; and sisters, Jerri Towell and Marlene McDaniel. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Faye Towell; and grandson, Josh Owens. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 14, from 6 until 8 p.m. at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ with Larry McFadden and Jeremy Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Morrow Cemetery. Pallbearers include his nephews, Kyle and Kevin Rowe, Terry Jetton, Jamey McFadden, Keith and Joey Smith.

All of the past and present elders of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers. Lasting memorials may be made to the Children’s Center at 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.
