Duane’s Obituary Duane Van Wyhe, age 85, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the United Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with the Reverend Jon Bushnell officiating. Interment will take place prior to the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Memorial Funeral Home at 9:30 Wednesday morning before processing to Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center for burial. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with family present at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, IA. The Duane Van Wyhe family prefers memorials be directed to the Sioux Center United Reformed Church.

Duane Van Wyhe was born July 7, 1933 to Lambert and Annie (Van Muyden) Van Wyhe on a farm near McNally (rural Ireton, Iowa). He grew up on the farm attending country school. Duane worked at the creamery in Sioux Center.

He was drafted into the army and served in Korea during peace time from 1955 through 1957. After coming back stateside, Duane worked for Moerman Painting Service in Sioux Center. Duane was united in marriage to Helen Gesink on August 24, 1962.

They made their home on the Van Wyhe home place and later moved to their own farm southeast of Ireton where they raised four children. Duane retired and moved off the farm in 1995. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and being outdoors.

He also enjoyed a variety of crafts to keep him busy. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen; their children: Lisa (John) van Dixhoorn of Sioux Center, IA, Kyle (Cindy) Van Wyhe of Sioux Center, IA, Melanie (Robert) Kosinski of Kenilworth, NJ, and Robin (Kyle) Plante of Brandon, SD; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Wayne (Hendrene) Van Wyhe of Hills, MN and two sisters-in-law: Kathleen Van Wyhe of Ireton, IA and Darlene Van Wyhe of Hawarden, IA. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Gordon and Marlin Van Wyhe; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Margaret (Dick) Vande Griend, Gertrude (Ordean) Webert, Dorothy (Peter) Vande Griend, Alice (Bill) Moerman and Esther (Dick) Vande Hoef; sister-in-law, Jennie Van Wyhe.
