Edith Ruth Magoon, 59, of Jaffrey, went home to be with the lord, late Friday night, July 13, 2018, in the comfort of her home, after a lengthy illness. She was born, in Keene, NH, on July 20, 1958, the daughter of George Orrison and Athlena G (Leet) Harmon, Sr She graduated from Marlborough High School with the Class of 1977, and later became Certified Nursing Assistant.

She… Read More » was a former member of the Marl-Harris Ambulance and a Red Cross Volunteer, since 1976, until her health would no longer allow her. She belonged to Rogers Rangers, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the American Legion, John Humiston Post # 11, of Jaffrey.

She also taught Sunday school for eleven years. She was a former Grange member. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, and had a love for all animals, crafts and her church.

Family, friends and writing poetry were important to her. She is survived by her husband, of seven years: Michael D. Magoon, Sr.; a daughters: Michelle M. Stearns and her husband Barry of Proctorsville, VT. , Misty D’Arcy and her husband Chris of Tampa, FL.

And Janet Nelson and her husband Bryan of Springfield, VT. ; a son: Michael D. Magoon, Jr. of Hubbardston, MA; grandchildren: Justin R. Stearns, Mark C. D’Arcy, Xavier M. D’Arcy, January Nelson-Smith, Julie Nelson, Jenna L. Nelson, Jordan E. Nelson; three great grandchildren: Ameilia, Katilyn and Jaxson; her sisters: Shirley A. Croteau of Marlborough, NH, Linda D. Jackson of Keene, NH and Rosalie S. Nelson of Cavendish, VT; her brothers: William P. Harmon of Saxtons River, VT. and Otis A. Nelson of Ludlow, VT.

; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, a son: William Allen Orrison Molesky who passed right after birth, her brothers: Alton Harmon, Sr., George O. Harmon-Colton, James R. Harmon, Norris J.Nelson; a sister: Roxanna Harmon; and her step brothers: Bruce Nelson, Scott Nelson and Kent Nelson. Calling Hours will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River St, Jaffrey, NH 03452 Services and a burial will take place in the family plot at the Litchfield Plains Cemetery, at a later date.
