Edward’s Obituary Edward (Ed) Donald Shock, 55, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, after a two-year, impressively fought battle against pancreatic cancer, peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family. He was the loving husband of Therese A. Shock (Libercci), his best friend of over 37 years. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 31, 1963, over the years he resided in several locations across his beloved Maryland, as well as in Lake Zurich, Illinois.

Ed proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before starting his career at Motorola, where he worked devotedly for over 27 years. Over the course of his career, Ed was able to travel around the world, particularly enjoying his time spent in Australia and Taiwan. Ed cherished the many friendships he formed at Motorola.

Ed was an avid sports fan rooting for his hometown Ravens, as a PSL owner, and (sometimes painfully) the Orioles, as well as the Washington Capitals and the University of Maryland Terrapins. His love of football was evident in his devotion to youth sports; both as a coach and nearly a decade as an official with the Frederick County Football Officials Association. He enjoyed coaching, mentoring and traveling miles and hours for his love of the sport no matter his role; a fan, parent, coach or official.

In addition to his service, career and sports interests, Ed was a man of many skills and hobbies. Always the handyman, Ed made wherever “home” was for his family unique and their own. Ed also enjoyed playing golf and brewing beer.

Ed’s favorite enjoyment was his annual trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with his family and longtime friends, the Nava’s. In addition to his wife, surviving are his two children, Cruz J. Mannherz of Frederick, and Nikole B. Jones and husband Tyler, of Frederick. He is also survived by several beloved family members including his mother-in-law Jacqueline Libercci (Impallaria), Maryann Libercci and April Shenberger, Christina Pasco (Glinski), husband Joseph and daughter Aurelia, whom Ed adored, and many other dear relatives and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved father-in-law, and card-playing partner, Joseph Libercci. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick from 12:00 p.m., noon to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Military honors will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, and on behalf of Ed, we ask that you please read our page, and consider contributing to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan) through our #SHOCKSTRONG team page (support.
