Edward Eugene “Gene” Mitchell, 83, of Florence, passed away March 13, 2019 at his residence. He was a member of Underwood Baptist Church and he retired from Reynolds. Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2019 from 11-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Donnie McDaniel and Brother Jerry Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park Love Mausoleum. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Ruby Mitchell; and his brother, Brown Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ann Mitchell; daughters, Cristi (John) Blasingame, LaFonda (Max) Hester, and Paulette (Mike) Utley; sister, Betty (Bobby) McCormick; grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Blasingame, Taylor (Nick) Coleman, John Hester, Brock (Scotti) Utley, and Jeremy (Audra) Utley; and great-grandchildren, Riley Coleman, and Brodie, Cole, and Ann Katherine Utley. Active pallbearers will include: Jacob Blasingame, Justin Blasingame, John Hester, Nick Coleman, Jeremy Utley, Brock Utley, Brodie Utley, and Cole Utley. Honorary pallbearers will be Herby Harrison, David Ringelstein, Jim Golden, Steve Scott, Bobby McCormick, Donnie Arnold, John McDaniel, Kenneth Austin, P.D. Terry and Gary Utley.

We want to thank our wonderful caregivers: Dr. Danny McFall, Cindy Juelfs, Miranda Brymer, John McDaniel, Eldercare and Alacare Hospice for taking such good care of my husband and our father. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Underwood Baptist Church.
