Obituary for Edward James Jacobs Edward (Eddie) James Jacobs, longtime resident of Enfield for the past 40 plus years, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation, West Hartford. Eddie was born June 28, 1946 in New Bedford, MA and was the son of the late Mr. Edward A. Jacobs and Mary C. (Ward) Jacobs.

Eddie grew up in New Bedford, MA and graduated from Bishop Stang High School class of ’64 before receiving an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. Eddie had worked as a Head Custodian for the Enfield Public Schools and retired after 23 years.

The last school he worked at and had many fond memories of was Prudence Crandall Elementary. Eddie had many interests he was passionate about: NY Yankees, NY Giants, and Boston Bruins. Another chapter in his life that gave him many years of happiness was playing softball on the “Over 30 League”.

He was most passionate about his love for music. Many concert events over the years did he attend. Not only did he have profound knowledge of music, he was a talented DJ formerly known as “EJ the DJ” and took great pleasure in making thoughtful CDs for family and friends.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife Lucille (Lucy), his son, Kevin Jacobs, step-son, Pasquale John D’Amato (PJ), step-daughter, Nicole Ginsburg and her husband Phil, grandsons whom he adored, Evan Joseph and Ethan James all of Enfield. Eddie’s essential goodness, humility, sense of humor and compassion will be sadly missed by all who loved him. A very special note of thanks to the staff of Hughes Health & Rehab, North Wing, and Hospice Masonicare for their above and beyond commitment to caring.

A Funeral Service with military honors will be held on Friday, Jan 11, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Leete-Stevens Funeral Home, 61 South Rd. , Enfield. Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service Friday.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s name may be made to Huntington Disease Foundation, P.O. Box 912, Salado, Texas 76571, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), 61 White Oak Rd. , Somers, CT 06071.
