Edward A. Lardie, 91, of Traverse City, completed his earthly journey and joined his wife Elsie, of 68 years, on May 22, 2019. Ed was born in his grandmother’s house on Washington Street on January 12, 1928, to the late Edward C. and Hattie (Davis) Lardie. He was one of 7 children.

Two sisters, Janette Ryder of New York and Anita Brown of Texas survive him today. The children all fondly comment on the Sunday drives after church to the Mackinac Bridge and everywhere in between. As long as Ed and Elsie were together, the adventures would continue.

In their retired years, he and Elsie traveled the roads in the USA stopping in most of the warmer climates like Florida, Texas and Arizona to visit extended family. Not only was Ed a retiree of Consumers Energy providing them with 40 years of service, he was an avid photographer, a great bowler, loved tending to his yard and gardens and an amazing handyman. If something needed attention, Ed was the one to fix it, not only with his skill but also with items he could find around his house.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as friend to many people. He was a faithful member of the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church assisting many of the parishioners with all kinds of tasks over the years. He was a devoted volunteer to the Meals on Wheels program and encouraged a few of his children to assist as well.

Ed left a mark on the heart of many and a legacy that will live on. Ed is survived and missed dearly by his children; Brenda Nugent, Nancy Lardie, Debra Burden (Peter Norcross), Janice Lardie, James Lardie and Jean Lardie. He is also survived by grandchildren; Holly (Brenen) Fuller, Justin (Andrea) Arndt, Matthew (Jenika) Burden, Jacob (Jill) Burden, Jason Galang, Jennifer Kambar, AJ (Brianna) Lardie and 22 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elsie (Kelsch), his parents, his brothers Clarence (Pat) and Harold as well as his sisters Marinette (Mary) Pierce and Kathleen (Kay) Thomas. A memorial service to honor Ed’s life will take place May 28th at noon at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church with visitation from 10:00am to noon. The Rev.

Kathy Snedeker will officiate. Those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Meals on Wheels at 3963 Three Mile Rd. N., Traverse City, MI 49686 or the church located at 1200 Ramsdell St., Traverse City, MI 49684 for their Haiti Missions.

The family is being cared for and served by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
