Obituary for Edward Leonard Ross Edward L.Ross passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 after a full active life. He was born Nov.

28, 1928 in Judith Gap, Montana to James and Gertrude Ross. His early years were spent with seven sisters and a brother on a working ranch. In his teen years, he loved hunting and fishing and brought in extra money through trapping.

He took a well-documented trip to the Yukon and eastern Alaska in the mid 40’s. A story he told all his life. While working on a dude ranch in northeast Idaho he met Irene Haws and they eventually had three children – Victoria, Deborah and Leonard.

Victoria was born in Idaho. They moved to Seattle and eventually to the north Snohomish County. While there they had Deborah.

Ed built a home in Alderwood Manor, Washington where Leonard S. Ross was born, followed by a move to Lakewood. On the coast Ed worked for Weyerhauser as a crane operator, built logging roads and took regular hunting trips back to Montana. In 1970, the family picked up and moved to Quincy, Washington and then Ephrata, Washington.

Eventually Irene’s Candy Kitchen was started with Irene’s candymaking training and Ed’s love of the business; it was open 20 years. A store was opened in Leavenworth, Washington and they sold packaged goods throughout eastern Washington, something Ed was always proud of. In his later years he got jobs on local farms and with Grant County.

Dad was always quick with a smile and some friendly conversation. He loved life and the people in it. Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Raber (1955-1988).

He is survived by Irene at home; his son-in-law Jeff Raber and his kids Amanda Raber and Kristopher (Tabitha) Raber and daughter Sara; two children Leonard Ross and Deborah (Craig) Fairclough and kids Nicole and Kramer. We wish to thank our “G” Street neighbors for their years of friendship; the prayer and good conversation of the LDS home teachers; the staff at Columbia Basin Hospital, especially the nurses; Nicoles Funeral Home, and Hospice.
