Edward Walter King November 15, 1928 – January 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Edward Walter King, 90, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2019 at his residence in Rocky Hill, CT. Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY November 15,1928. He was predeceased by his wife Connie; parents Walter and Wilhelmina (Dolly) King; brothers Gerard and John King.

He is survived by his brother William and sister-in-law Valerie; sister Audrey Massone, and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by friends, family and his children; Kathleen of Manchester CT; Gerard of Jupiter FL; and Sharon of Rocky Hill CT. Ed grew up in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School and lettered in Track and Handball.

While growing up, he spent many summers out on Long Island with his family. He loved to tell stories about he & his siblings growing up especially those days of picking potatoes on the farms with his brother Bill for 3 cents a bushel or of when he worked as a bricklayer. He was a Corporal in the Army/Air Force from 1946-1949.

He was stationed in Hawaii as an Airplane Power Plant Mechanic. When he returned from the Air Force, he studied aeronautical engineering at Hofstra College in Hempstead, NY and Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, NY. In 1955 Ed accepted an engineering position at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and moved to CT.

He continued his education, earning his master’s degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During one of his family visits from CT to NY, he met Connie and they were married August 8, 1959. Connie moved from Deer Park, NY to Manchester, CT where they resided for over 40 years raising their family.

Ed & Connie were blessed with wonderful neighbors who became lifelong friends. Ed was a devoted husband and father. He loved to vacation with family & friends in Cape Cod where he loved, fishing, clamming, and boating.

He enjoyed building and fixing things, working on cars, and doing yardwork. He always took the time to teach us about what his was working on so that we would learn from his experiences. Ed liked to take pictures and while at the time we complained about him always taking them, we are grateful that he did because we have many memories to look back on.

Ed and Connie enjoyed retirement living in Ellington, CT and traveled to; Hawaii; Florida; Canadian Rockies; several National Parks out West; and the Grand Canyon. Family and friends are invited to the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook St. Rocky Hill on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 9:45 to 10:45. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am in St. Josephine Bakhita Church, St. Elizabeth Seton Campus, 280 Brook St. Interment will follow in the State Veteran’s Cemetery 317 Bow Lane Middletown, CT.
