Joseph Sebastian Miano August 22, 1930 – February 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Joseph (Joe) Sebastian Miano, born on August 22, 1930 in Middletown, Connecticut, to the late Maria Amato and the late Giuseppe Miano, passed away peacefully at age 88. He was surrounded by members of his family on February 7, 2019 at Englewood Healthcare in Florida. Joe was a resident of Connecticut for over 70 years, and spent the last 17 years of his retired life as a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Joe served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was passionate about his family and loved to tell stories about his childhood and days in the service. He was caring, generous and especially loved by those who knew him well.

Joe worked in the Produce retail and wholesale industry and had a special artistic talent for building the most incredible fruit baskets. He was well known for his love of cooking, especially for friends and family. While in Florida he enjoyed playing Bocce, cards, dining out with friends and facilitating social gatherings by the pool.

He is preceded in death by his son Michael Paul Miano and brothers, Salvatore, Paul, and Nano Miano. He leaves behind his wife and life companion, Dolores P. Miano, and is survived by his four children, Irene Triompo and her husband Joe of Rocky Hill, Joey Miano and his wife Crystal of Unionville, Lori Miano of Middletown, Christopher Miano and fiancé Lindsey Leduc of Watertown, MA, and his third “daughter” Deborah (Ange) Corsetti of Middlefield, CT. Joe is survived by seven grandchildren, Gina (Dan) Galuska, Danielle Miano (Nick Klock), Michelle (Greg) Marais, Lauren Miano, Nick (Lizzy) Corsetti, Stacia (Mike) Davis and Christopher Michael Jr

He is also survived by two little great grandchildren, Sophia and Liliana Galuska, who brought him so much joy in his last years. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, along with a soon to be born, granddaughter and great grandson. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 9-11 am, followed by a celebration of life memorial service at Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook Street, Rocky Hill, CT.

A Christian burial with military honors to be held at Calvary Cemetery on Bow Lane in Middletown, immediately following the memorial service.
