Edward Zeke Ziebold , June 25, 1958 — December 13, 2018

Edward “Zeke” Ziebold of Elkhart, IN and formerly of New Castle, passed away Thursday afternoon December 13, 2018, at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart, IN. He was born October 20, 1922 in Hamilton, Ohio, to Edward and Helen (Richards) Ziebold. He married Tresia (Ripoli) on June 25, 1958, in Columbus, Ga.

She passed away in 2011. Grandchildren include Tracey Ann Ison, Edward Zeke Ziebold, Suzanne E. Proctor, Candance Clemons, Kristopher Knox, Evie Jo Drohn, Gabriela Marie (Brandon) Strombeck, and Andre Olds Ziebold.

He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister and a step daughter, Kristine Elaine Warren Zeke served in the Army and retired after 22 years as Sergeant First Class. He received a purple heart as he was wounded in the line of duty in 1945.

He was part of the 10th Mountain Division, which included the Ski Patrol and Mule pack outfits. He served in World War II and Vietnam as well as many other deployments. He served as New Castle Deputy Sherriff for a couple years.

He was also retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, New Castle. Zeke served as Commander of the New Castle VFW for several years and honored veterans at over 600 funerals as leader of the honor guard. He was also a member of the DAV, the American Legion and was in many bowling leagues over the years.

He enjoyed toy trains, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the 4 pm services on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Macer-Hall Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 600 South Main St. New Castle with Pastor Matt Masko officiating (at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church next door). Entombment will be in Green Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3578 W. S.R. 38 New Castle.

Military honors will be conducted by the VFW and American Legion. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made to www.
