Elaine J. Gilbert, 82, of Schuylkill Haven, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 31st, at ManorCare, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on February 13, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Paul & Mabel (Felty) Brown. She was the loving wife of James Riley Gilbert.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl W. Brown. Elaine had been employed as a machine operator at Wright’s Knitting Mill, Auburn. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to her husband, Elaine is also survived by two daughters: Patricia Mehle, Littlestown, PA, & Barbara Gonder, Elizabethville, four sons: Charles Bunnell, Pottsville, Thomas E. Gilbert, Tivili, NY, James R. Gilbert, Schuylkill Haven, & Michael Gilbert, Schuylkill Haven, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jean A. Bernd, Lancaster, & Shirley M. Ketrow, Hagerstown, MD, and nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be conducted by Chaplain David Borton on Saturday, November 3rd, at 10 a.m. at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven. There will be no viewing prior to the time of service.

Interment will be held at the family’s convenience. Family request donations in Elaine’s memory to Avenues, 2 Park St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
