Elberta Rhodes of Chesaning, age 79, passed away early Monday morning, December 17, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Ruthford G. and Doris E. (Palmer) Vincent, Elberta was born in Brant on August 9, 1939. She was a lifetime resident of Chesaning and graduated from Chesaning Union High School in the Class of 1957.

She was a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Chesaning and was attending Sheridan Road Baptist Church of Saginaw. Elberta enjoyed needlepoint and playing computer games, especially Pogo, and she truly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Tina (Tony) Fish of Chesaning, Bonnie (David) Smith of Owosso, and James Rhodes of Owosso; her beloved grandchildren, Terry Rhodes of Flint, Christa Rhodes of Flint, Adam (Angie) Rhodes of Flint, Krystle (Tyler) Fitts of Jackson, Jeramy Smith (fiancée Amber) of Ovid-Elsie area, Rebecka Smith (fiancé Dustin Brown) of Ovid-Elsie area, Maryellen Rhodes of Chesaning, Anna Bale of Chesaning, Jennifer (Adam) Fulop of Ohio, Anthony Fish (fiancée Samantha Sawvel) of Burt, and Chelsea (Jake) Steward of Chesaning; 24 adored great-grandchildren; her brother, Junior (Linda) Vincent of Owosso; her sisters, Marlene Hart of Chesaning and Linda (David) Malone of Montrose; a special friend, Jean Olsen of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Rhodes; an infant grandson; great-grandsons, Michael and Timothy Fish; and two brothers, Larry and Mickey Vincent. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service at Wildwood Cemetery of Chesaning will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
