Eleanor A. Kaplewicz – 85 Eleanor Kaplewicz, affectionately known by friends and family members as “Ellie”, passed away on April 27, 2019, at the age of 85 years while surrounded by family at Hershey Medical Center, in Hershey, PA. Ellie was born April 21, 1934 in Buffalo, NY, eventually settling in Mechanicsburg, PA, where she was a resident for the past 40 years. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Teddy J. Kaplewicz, in addition to her mother, Genevieve Leonarczyk and her father, Walter Leonarczyk.
So many wonderful and loving memories will be cherished by Ellie’s survivors, which include sons Ronald, Joseph (Tammy), David and daughters Kathleen Maloney (Leo) and Deborah Hanks (Dave). Ellie is also survived by 12 grandchildren who she adored, including: James, Karen, Nicholas, Kristen, Alex, Jonathan, Maegan, Maryella, Brent, Ashley, Kaitlin & Kristin and 9 great grandchildren. Ellie leaves behind her brother, Norman Leonarczyk and wife Christine and will be forever remembered by her extended family members and dear friends.
Ellie was truly an Angel on Earth, who was the most kind, gentle, compassionate and selfless person you would ever meet. She was an avid and passionate sports fan and also enjoyed frequenting her favorite eateries. She just loved spending time with her family and friends, whenever and wherever she could.
Ellie was especially happy when surrounded by her loved ones during beach vacations, tailgating at Penn State football games, enjoying a Boog’s BBQ sandwich while cheering on her Orioles, hitting up the casinos in Vegas or simply at home during the holidays. Ellie was incredibly supportive of her children and her grandchildren, as it related to their own hobbies, interests and milestones in their respective lives. She could always be found in the stands cheering on her sons, daughters or grandchildren at ballgames, dance recitals, graduation ceremonies, etc….
and always with her infectious smile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill, PA with the Rev. Modestus Ngwu as celebrant.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Following the Mass there will be a Celebration of Ellie’s Life at The Hotel Hershey, in Hershey, PA. As Ellie was an avid supporter of Penn State’s THON event, memorial donations in her memory can be made to this organization, at www.
