Matthews, 86, formerly of Stewartsville passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 in Chelsea @ Brookfield in White Township. Born February 7, 1933 in Long Island City, NY she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Lagan) Murray. Her husband, Joseph, passed away in 1989.

She was an Administrative Assistant with Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ before retirement. Eleanor enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards and movies. She was an expert on Elizabeth Taylor.

She had such a great love for her children and grandchildren. Eleanor was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpha. She is survived by three sons Joseph E., III (Lynda M.) of Weeki Wachee, FL, Steven (Shari J.) of St. Petersburg, FL and Arthur R. (Stuart) of Wood-Ridge, NJ; two daughters Diane Nicolasi of Bear, DE and Mary G. Raulf (Matthew G.) of Stewartsville; 9 grandchildren Joey, Nikki, Nick, Katelyn, Jaime, Heather, Matthew, Ally and Olivia; and 5 great-grandchildren Isabella, Logan, Campbell, Walker and Tyler.

She is predeceased by two brothers Arthur and Robert; and a sister Gertrude Geraghty. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 830 5th Ave, Alpha, NJ. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
