Eleanor L. Pearson was born Eleanor L. Wattley in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Lawrence Wattley and Martha Marie Wattley, on December 8, 1940. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fort Wayne and she was a faithful member of the mass choir and the usher board for many years.

Ellie graduated from Central High School in 1958. In 1970, she began working for Peter Eckrich and Sons in its corporate offices, and she spent the remainder of her career employed there, retiring in 2004 after 31 years of dedicated service. She married Lonnie Pearson on July 10, 1971 and in 1986 the Pearson family moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Once settled, she and the family united with Second Baptist Church of Wheaton, Illinois. Eleanor leaves to cherish her memory ten children: Cheryl Grace (Al) Pearson-McNeil of Chicago, IL; Elizabeth Gooden of Naperville, IL; Malinda Hill of Wuppertal, Germany; Norlinda Knowles of Indianapolis, IN; Kelley Alcaraz (Shawn) of Palatine, IL; Nicole Pearson of Glen Ellyn, IL; Natalie White (Bryon) of Shorewood, IL; Courtney Harris of Chicago, IL; Vincent York of Minneapolis, MN; and Venisha York of Carol Stream, IL; brother, Lawrence (Everleina) Wattley; sisters Ruth E. Phillips, Barbara Jean Wattley, and Beverly Wattley, all of Fort Wayne; Jacquelyn (Alfred) Phillips of Memphis, TN; and Sharon Lindsey of Fort Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Pearson; brother, Robert Dennis Wattley; two sisters, Theressa Lee and Gertrude Wattley.
