Eleanor’s Obituary Eleanor L. Price was called home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 11th. She would have completed 87 years of life in August. Born to the late John and Mary Sutko, Eleanor was raised in Philadelphia, just two doors down from the Baptist church where she was dedicated to Christ as a baby, and where she was fully-immersed one Easter Sunday at Sunrise Service to achieve her very young adult baptism.
Eleanor met her beloved and devoted husband, the late Arthur G. Price, at that same church, where his baritone rendering of “Birthday of a King” touched her heart. Eleanor and Arthur moved from the city in 1955, along with their daughter Cheryl C., to become original owners of a Jubilee in Vermilion Hill. This was Eleanor’s home until the time of her passing.
Eleanor loved her God and His Son, Jesus Christ. She loved her family dearly, showing them so in big and in many small ways. Eleanor took pride in her home, both inside and out, making certain that all was tended appropriately right up to the last.
She spent almost 40 years in retail sales. Her friendly, helpful, highly-reliable nature, and her willingness to get the job done in new ways made her a valuable employee. An avid reader, Eleanor especially enjoyed a challenging mystery novel, and frequently read a book in a day.
She completed many authors’ entire series. She also loved watching an intricate “who-done-it” TV show or movie, and solving the puzzle before the main character. Over the years, Eleanor expressed her love of Holidays and their traditions, gatherings with family and friends, and, in younger days, hosting parties for family, friends and neighbors.
She looked forward to good conversation, shopping with her friend and visiting with “The Boys”. Eleanor was an energetic, quick-witted, “on top of things”, intelligent, creative, hard-working, generous, fun-loving person. She was both big- and tender-hearted, protective of those she loved, always ready with sound advice and had strong convictions and opinions.
Eleanor was gifted with healing hands, and had a lovely singing voice. In addition to her parents and her wonderful husband of 50 years, Eleanor was preceded in death by her siblings – Anna, Joseph, Bill, Mary, Aggie, Johnny, Walt, Helen, Doris and Ronnie. Eleanor is survived, and sorely missed, by her loving and devoted daughter, Cheryl.
She is also survived by cherished friends, many nieces and nephews, and her church family. All who knew her as Eleanor, Aunt Eleanor, Aunt Ellie, Mrs. Price, Yia Yia or “Charlie” are invited to call on the family on Thursday, May 23rd from 6 PM to 8 PM at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2200 Trenton Road in Levittown, PA. A private interment service will be held in the Newtown Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will be held in Eleanor’s honor at 12 noon on Saturday, June 1st at the New Apostolic Church of Cinnaminson, 716 Pomona Road (at Branch Pike) in Cinnaminson, NJ, 08077. A luncheon will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in Eleanor’s name may be made to one of her favorite charities: The Purple Heart, The Wounded Warrior Project, In Touch Ministries, The New Apostolic Church, a Food Bank of your choice.
