Eleanor Ruth White age 73 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Thursday morning December 13, 2018 at her home. She was born June 25, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan daughter of the late John R. and Dorothy (Eckman) Verduin. Eleanor resided in Sturgis for the past 5 years, coming from the Mendon area where she had lived for many years.

Nursing was a perfect vocation for Eleanor due to her true love for helping and caring for others.

Following her retirement she continued this love by becoming a dedicated volunteer with the St. Joseph County Sherriff Department Victim Services program. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting and playing the piano. She was an adventurous lady that seemed to be open to try nearly anything including riding motorcycles and taking her children on trips throughout the United States to experience the many differences of our country.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Leslie; two daughters: Karen (Tonia Warmack) White of Sturgis, MI and Leslie (Tom) Hostetler of Shipshewana, IN; one son: Kevin (Heather West) White of Harriman, TN; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother: Dick (Jan) Verduin of Illinois and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Ronnie Verduin. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
