Elizabeth’s Obituary Saratoga Springs, NY – Elizabeth A. Carpenter Allen passed away, after a short illness, on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 89. Born on April 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ann (Lewis) Carpenter and lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs.

A graduate of Saratoga High School, Betty retired from the Adirondack Trust Bank. She previously worked for Bell Telephone and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and was a member of the Y Women and Bethesda Episcopal Church. She always loved spending time with her family and enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome.

Betty was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Richard Allen; brothers Frederick, John and Charles Carpenter; brothers-in-law Roland, Neil, Wayne, Rutherford, Jr., Glenn, David, Arthur and Walt; sisters-in-law Gertrude Carpenter, Beverly Ruzcky, Marjorie Dufore, Gertrude Allen, Millie Mallory and Beverly Allen. Survivors include her sons Steven (Dawn) and Lawrence (Anne); granddaughters Heather (Brian) Parry and Megan (James) Rowland; great-grandchildren Andrew, Hannah and Katie Parry, Fionna and Ethan Rowland; sisters-in-law Tiny Allen, Joan Allen, Millie Allen, Sandy Harrington and Donna (Roger) Mack; brothers-in-law James Allen and Oscar Dufore and several nieces and nephews.

Betty is also survived by her “adoped family” Debbie (David), Sherri, Sean (Kristi), Erik, Kyle (Lauren), Dylan, Braeden and Emmalee. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373). A funeral home service will follow at 7pm conducted by The Very Reverend Marshall J. Vang.
