OBITUARY Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson March 23, 1922 – November 23, 2018 Elizabeth Dreher Corley Gibson passed away on November 23, 2018 at the age of 96. A memorial service will be held at St. Michaels Lutheran Church, 400 River Road, Columbia S.C. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Elizabeth, who was affectionately known as “Libby” to her family and friends, was the only daughter among seven children born to Sidney Lee and Bertha Morgan Dreher in Columbia, SC. Libby was a member of the first graduating class of Irmo High School where she played on the basketball team and was the editor of the school newspaper and yearbook staff.

After graduation she married Malcolm Edwin Corley. They built a wonderful life and family together, raising three sons and a daughter, until his death in 1982. Libby was blessed with a second love years later when she met and married Carl Gibson.

Although she and Carl were only married for two and a half short years before he passed away, they had many great adventures together. Libby’s profound faith was apparent in her daily life and in her devotion to her beloved church, St. Michael’s Lutheran. She served on Church Council, was president of the women’s group, taught Sunday School and was active in Wednesday Bible Study and the Evangelism Outreach Committee.

Libby worked for over 30 years in retail before retiring. After retirement she volunteered at Baptist Hospital. She was a great cook and always enjoyed feeding her friends and family!

Libby was truly an adored and loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Dr. Malcolm O. Corley (Gini Corley), Larry M. Corley (Bo Corley), Linda C. Anderson (the Hon. Ralph K. Anderson, III) and R. Gregg Corley (Kim Corley); stepchildren Michael Gibson (Martha Gibson), Carla Gibson Margalit; and brother John Dreher, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husbands Malcolm and Carl and brothers George, Gus, Thurman, Barr and Will Dreher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michaels Lutheran Church.
