Elizabeth Snyder Baker, age 74, resident of Somerville and wife of Ed Baker, departed this life Monday morning, July 2, 2018 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Funeral Services for Mrs. Baker will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Warren Community Church in Somerville with Dr. Kenneth Culver, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

A visitation for Mrs. Baker will be from 12 to 2 P.M. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Warren Community Church. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville. Mrs. Baker was born April 12, 1944 in Union City, Tennessee, the daughter of David Mac Snyder and Mildred Elizabeth Smith Snyder.

She was a graduate of Kenton High School Class of 1962 and the University of Tennessee at Martin Class of 1966. She was employed as a recruiter and educator for the University of Tennessee School of Medicine and Pharmacy and was also an elementary school teacher before her retirement. Mrs. Baker was a resident of Fayette County since 2002 and was a member of Warren Community Church.

She was a Bible Study Fellowship Leader. She was a member of the Master Gardener’s Club and will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband of 53 years who she married April 9, 1965, Ed Baker of Somerville, TN; two daughters, Elise Cathleen Baker of Midway, AR, Ellen Baker Dykes (Russell) of Arlington, TN; her son, Eric L. Baker (Sara) of Memphis, TN; and six grandchildren, Grace Baker, Belle Dykes, Reagan Dykes, Dylan Baker, Gunner Baker and Nathan Hodges.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Dylan Baker, Russell Dykes, Jerry Kilburn, Larry Garris, Rudy Doyle and James Patrick. The family requests that memorials be directed to Gideons International, P.O. Box 212, Somerville, TN 38068.
