Ellen “Marie” Ward, 87, of Bowie, MD, passed away on June 3, 2018. Marie was born July 6, 1930 in Baxter, TN to the late Charlie Cannon and Lillian Durham. She was a loving and devoted wife to the late Donald G. Ward and loving mother to Gary L. Ward (Alice), David A. Ward (Debra) and Dennis G. Ward; Seven Grandkids and Eight Great Grandkids who brought a great deal of joy to her life; Caring sister to Carson Cannon (Mildred) and Mary “Helen” Poovey (late Lamar).

She retired from Naval Air Systems Command with the United States Government after 37 years of service. She was a former member of the Mount Oak United Methodist Church. She loved traveling, gardening, reading gossip magazines and mostly spending time with her family.

Marie was a strong, loving, generous, down to earth, beautiful and caring woman inside and out. She was above all else totally devoted to her family and with great courage always put them first. Visitation will be on Friday, June 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Gasch’s Funeral Home P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD.

The internment will be held immediately following the Memorial Service at Fort Lincoln Cemetery at the Garden of the Apostles in Brentwood, MD.
