OBITUARY Ellen Morrow November 18, 1934 – November 27, 2018 Ellen Jeanne Morrow, nee Surette, a resident of St James, NC passed away on November 27th at the age of 84 after a brief illness. Ellen was born in Reading Massachusetts, November 18, 1934 and is survived by husband Robert Dennis (Bob) Morrow and their five children Michelle (Parker), Robin, Thomas, Anne-Marie (Eddy) and Susan. Siblings Delores van Horn, Dennis Surette, Robert Surrette, Stephen, and Suzanne Deveau.

Grandchildren are Craig, Michael, Kayla, Sylar, Annabel, Madison, Stephanie, Haley. Ellen is predeceased by parents Ernest and Susan Surrette, brother Warren Surette and sister Pauline Quinlan. Ellen graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston and taught in grammar schools in El Paso, Texas.

She met Bob there on a blind date where he was stationed for military duty. They spent the next twenty years as a military family touring the US and abroad where they made many lasting friendships. Ellen thoroughly enjoyed international culture and made sure that almost every weekend the family was touring ancient castles, churches or hiking the local countryside.

Once an empty-nester, Ellen went back to school and studied for a Masters Degree. She then became a technical writer and worked for several large companies including Sanders/Lockheed-Martin. Ellen and Bob retired to St James in 1997 where they were both active in the community and enjoyed playing golf.

Bob is the former mayor of St James. Ellen was an avid volunteer at St. James, hard her majhan group, book group and investment group. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Southport, on Friday, November 30th at 12pm.
