Obituary for Mr. Ellis J. Neal Jr. Ellis Neal, Jr was born on April 8th, 1963 to Deacon Ellis Neal and Rosa Walden Neal in Neptune New Jersey. He departed his earthly life on April 22, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Ellis, fondly known to many as Neal, was raised and educated in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
After graduating Asbury Park High School in 1981, he attended Indiana State University. Ellis joined the workforce immediately after returning home from Indiana. He used his gift of gab to become a well-known car salesman in the Monmouth County area.
After many years in sales, he decided to use his love and knowledge of cars to create “Neal’s Auto Detailing” located on Corlies Avenue in Neptune, New Jersey. Neal’s Auto Detailing was well known and profitable. In 2005, Ellis made a life choice and left the business behind to become a member of the construction union Local 595, and thus began his career in the field of construction where he continued to work until he could no longer be productive, due to his illness.
Neal’s entrepreneurial spirit kept him involved in not only his regular job but anything that could earn a dollar. He plowed snow, gave parties and shows and stayed busy trying to make a better way for himself, his family and friends. His one passion that he participated in until the end was his desire to give back to the children of our community, the same community where he was raised.
The children of Asbury Park Pop Warner lovingly called him “Coach Neal”. He was there for them in any capacity he could be. He was a surrogate father to many and at times sponsored those who could not meet their financial responsibilities.
His name will live on with all the young people in this community who he inspired to be better. He will also go down in history as a “Together Brother” he was one of the few men affiliated with the all-girls social group called the “Together Sisters”. He loved each and everyone of these young ladies with all of his heart.
In addition, some of his greats relationships were gained through his thirty-year relationship with the NA fellowship the fellowship allowed him the opportunity to live a clean and sober life. Not only did the fellowship inspire him to continue his clean and sober life but his love of God . He has been a life time member of Good Hope Baptist Church of Asbury Park.
Ellis leaves behind his most significant accomplishment in life, his son Marcus Amir Neal, who will celebrate his father’s life until the end of time. He will also forever live in the heart of his daughter Danielle Drayton. Ellis was a father to one but a father figure to many.
Ellis was predeceased by his mother, Rosa Walden Neal. She was his everything and more. Ellis has asked that his heart filled gratitude is extended to his cousin Darleen Holmes. She was his rock and was there at the drop of a hat to take him where ever he needed to go.
Today we are saying farewell to a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a father and a sweetheart to many. We will miss his smile his charm his wit and his style. He was always very well dressed.
