Emanuel Ross Jr, March 26, 1946 — February 02, 2019

Emanuel Ross, Jr. was born on March 26, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of Edna Mae and Sergeant First Class Emanuel Ross, Sr. Emanuel was baptized at St. Monica Catholic Church at a very young age and also received the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. Emanuel had no choice as a child but to attend Mass every Sunday and Catechism every Tuesday and Thursday or his life would not be easy. Emanuel attended the New Orleans Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington Senior High School in 1964.

After graduation, he attended Rett’s Electronics School for two years but subsequently enlisted in the Army. He was the son of a veteran who died in the line of duty which exempted him from combat, but chose to go to Vietnam in service for his country. He earned the rank of Specialist 4 during his term of service and was Honorably Discharged in 1970.

He became a New Orleans Police Officer in June 1980 and retired in January 2002. Emanuel evacuated to Houston, Texas after Hurricane Katrina where he remained until his demise. His final days were spent at Westbury Nursing Facility in Houston and he passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 after a lengthy illness.

Emanuel is survived by five children Marlon, Troy, Marcus, Patrice, and Evelyn; one sister, Camille Ross Treaudo; three nephews, Chris Ross, Corey Ross, and Kendric Treaudo; and a host of other relatives and friends. Emanuel was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Mae Watkins Ross and his father, Sgt. 1st Class Emanuel Ross, Sr. The Funeral Service will be held at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave.

on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Visitation begins at 10:00 am and Services will begin at 11:00 am. Fr.

Daniel H. Green, Pastor of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be private. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New Orleans, LA.
