Emery Laurence Duffy, 87, of Crystal Lake, was born November 14, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Joseph P. and Laura (nee Schulte) Duffy. He passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2018 in McHenry. Emery was a devoted family man, and well-known attorney in McHenry County.

Emery enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953 as a Master Sergeant and was recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He started his law practice in Savannah, GA in 1960 alongside his brother, attorney Robert Duffy. Emery moved to Illinois to be closer to family in 1971 and was admitted to the Illinois Bar.

He practiced law in Crystal Lake until his retirement. Emery is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy C. (nee Fischer) Duffy; his children Stephen (Mary) Duffy, Kathleen (Paul) Massat, and David (Ellen) Duffy; his grandchildren Erin Duffy, Matthew Duffy, Daniel Massat, Grace Massat, Jennifer Duffy, Jonathan Duffy, and Michael Duffy; and his sister, Alta (the late James) Cook. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Elizabeth (Bud) Larson, Robert (Mary) Duffy, and Charles (Joyce) Duffy.

A visitation will be held from 8-10am, Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. , Crystal Lake. Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30am, Saturday, at St. Thomas the Apostle, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave.
